Benefits of our Automobile Insurance Program
Terms Below is a list of the different types of automobile coverages available and a general explanation of each offering. *Liability Insurance - Liability insurance is required in most states to operate a motor vehicle. The minimum limits in Georgia are 25/50/25, effective January 1, 2001. The minimum limits in Alabama are 20/40/10. The numbers 25/50/25 mean bodily injury coverage of up to $50,000 for all persons injured in an accident, subject to the limit of $25,000 for a single individual, and $25,000 coverage for property damage. The first two figures refer to bodily injury liability limits, which apply when you are held legally liable for injury or death to pedestrians, persons riding in other cars, or guests in your car. The third figure refers to property damage liability, the maximum your insurance company will pay in settling claims against you arising from damage to property of others (such as damage to the other driver's car). **Medical Payments - Medical Payments coverage protects you and anyone riding in your vehicle for the cost of medical injuries caused by an accident. This coverage applies regardless of who is at fault. Medical Payments coverage is not required in Georgia; however, it is available at an extra cost. There is a discount if chiropractor care is excluded from the coverage. ***Physical Damage (Comprehensive and Collision) - Comprehensive and Collision coverages, sold together as Physical Damage coverage, protect you against loss to your vehicle. Collision coverage covers damage to your vehicle caused from an accident. Comprehensive coverage covers damage resulting from certain causes including fire, theft, glass breakage, vandalism, flood, falling objects, explosion, hail, collision with an animal, earthquake and riot. You may choose a deductible amount of $250, $500, $750 (only offered in georgia) or $1,000, which represents the amount you will pay toward the repair of your vehicle before payment by the insurance company. **Uninsured Motorist - Uninsured Motorist coverage protects you when you are involved in an accident that is not your fault and the other party either does not have insurance or does not have sufficient insurance. **Loss of Use - Loss of Use (or Rental Reimbursement) coverage is an optional coverage that pays you a certain amount per day (for up to 30 days) towards the cost of a rental vehicle, while your vehicle is being repaired. This coverage only applies when your vehicle is involved in a covered accident or other covered loss. **Automobile Accident Supplement Endorsement - The Automobile Accident Supplement Endorsement (or AD&D coverage) is an optional coverage that provides a death benefit, payable to the named beneficiary, if the owner of the insurance policy is killed in an auto accident while wearing a seat belt. This coverage is available from $1,000 to $10,000 in increments of $1,000. (*) Mandatory coverage in
